The necktie as we know it today didn’t come about till after the 1900’s. In the Early to mid Victorian era men wore Men’s Victorian Ascots and Fancy Neckties. The 1840’s when black and colored silk added cheerfulness to a man’s outfit. Later in the century plain colors turned into paisley patterns in rich jewel tones.
