Texas Haunters Convention would like to invite every Halloween fan, haunter and cosplayer to participate in the first annual Costume Ball and contest. For the first 30 to sign up at the Costume Ball, five highly esteemed judges from both the cosplay and haunter community will award six character costumes with over a $1,000 worth in prize packages.

Rules can be found at https://www.texashauntersconvention.com/fun-events/.

Categories include the following. Prizes listed are only part of the total prize package and will include other gifts including a free pass to next year’s convention. Prizes are subject to change.
1. Best Of Show: A costume oozing with character and personality, this costume is immaculately detailed and accurate to its original vision. It is the most impressive costume/character at the show. Prize package will include a custom Arkham Scarecrow from In Search Of Brains Creature Design, two passes to Dark Hour Haunted House, a skull from Nightmare Makers, and a designed insulated cup from Nothing Basic.
2. Scariest Costume: A costume so scary even the judges have to watch a comedy before going to bed. A nightmarish vision that haunts everyone who sets their unfortunate eyes upon it. Prizes will include a cleaver purse from Corpse Factory, Coraline doll from Leonor Collectables & Resale Shop, and a mask from Dark Illusions Mask Company.
3. Most Innovative/Creative: No one expected this costume to work, and many still don’t understand how it came to be so well. This costume resets the standard for how costumes are created in both theory and practice. Prizes will include a signed heat gun from the Great Allen Hopps, a mask from Barbara’s Imaginations Unlimited, and a skull from Nightmare Makers.
4. First Time’s A Charm: Fresh talent that is so remarkable that it must be recognized. This costume comes from a person who is new to costuming and has never participated in a costume contest of this caliber. Prizes will include a custom EVA 2-piece set from DeadNoodle SFX studios, a $30 gift certificate from In Search Of Brains Creature Designs, and a skull from Nightmare Makers.
5. Best Makeup: The Face-On Award, because someone knows how…to put… their face on. This costume’s entire impact comes from its amazing application of makeup using both high skill and solid technique. Prize package will include a special makeup and theatrical blood set from Rip City FX, a family 4-pass and t-shirt combo to Hatch and Kraven’s Haunted House, and an autographed movie from director Joshua Winch plus a special prize set surprise.
6. Fan Favorite: This character receives the most adulation and cheers from the audience. Regardless of skill level or applied techniques, this costume gets the people on their feet.
Prize package includes a custom scarecrow, mug, and wind charm set from Sinister FX, an autographed movie from director Joshua Winch, and a skull from Nightmare Makers.

Other awards will be announced include a $25 gift certificate to Missing Finger Productions, a beautiful princess headpiece from Barbara’s Imaginations Unlimited, a t-shirt from VR Technologies, a Jason doll from Corpse Factory, an autographed picture from Hellraiser actor, Paul Taylor, a t-shirt from Haunt Shirts, passes to Creekside Manor, and more.

In all, we are awarding over a $1,000 in prizes to the best costumes in North Texas. Costumes do not have to be scary or horror-related, and all skill levels are encouraged to participate.”
